Getting to Know your Style

Blue
 Light in the Trees
Edge

The last photograph (Edge) emphasizes the drop by using a contrast of both light vs dark as well as content vs emptiness. On the left side, it is darker and has more in it (the trees), while on the left side, there is an empty white mist after a sudden drop. The fact that it is in black and white helps with this emphasis, which might not be as effective in colour, as opposed to the other two nature photographs, which are the opposite and look better in colour.
With the trees placed in the photo the way they are, about the same distance from the edge of the photo as the empty mist is, it gives the illusion that the edge is in the middle of the photograph, when it is in fact a bit to the left.
All these are nature photographs.

All photographs taken by Mark Littlejohn on Flickr and do not belong to me.

  1. Beautiful photographs with very ethereal look. Good analysis of form.
